In March 2021, billionaire Barre Seid donated an entire company to Leo's newest organization, the Marble Freedom Trust. Marble Freedom Trust then sold the company for $1.6 billion without paying any taxes. This move saved Seid as much as $400 million in capital gains taxes.
Seid is no stranger to political maneuvering. He's funded climate denialism, business deregulation, fighting Medicaid expansion, radicalizing higher education, and more.
Now he's put $1.6 billion in the hands of the Federalist Society kingpin who orchestrated the radicalization of the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. The money has already begun to flow to more anti-democracy causes.
